CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines Plc. (CLM), a Zambia-based holding subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC), recently donated another batch of agricultural supplies to local communities, marking the 16th consecutive year CLM has supported local farmers in Luanshya, Copperbelt Province of Zambia, with materials for agricultural production.
The donation included seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural supplies, which were distributed to 250 local low-income farm households.
This philanthropic act brought the total value of CLM's donations of agricultural supplies in 2025 to over 1.5 million Zambian Kwacha ($66,612.3).
The Luanshya District Commissioner expressed heartfelt gratitude to CLM at the handover ceremony for the donation held at the Sino-Zam Vocational College of Science and Technology in Luanshya on Nov. 6 local time.
In his speech delivered at the ceremony, the official highlighted CLM's long-standing, active efforts to respond to government concerns and fulfill its social responsibilities.
The government of Luanshya District appreciates CLM's role in promoting the development of the district's economy, employment, education, and other areas, as well as improving local people's livelihoods over the past 16 years, said the official.
Reaffirming the local government's continued support for CLM's operations, he expressed hope that the two sides will keep working together to promote the prosperity of Luanshya.
He also encouraged local farmers to actively farm, make good use of the donated supplies, and jointly safeguard food security in the district.
Since its establishment in 2009, CLM has paid close attention to the social development and people's livelihoods of the local communities.
As a "resident" of the local communities, the company has long regarded support for local agricultural production and efforts to help local farmers increase their incomes as key components of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Responding to the Zambian government's call for increased foreign investment in the agriculture sector, CLM has actively supported Luanshya in safeguarding food security.
Looking ahead, CLM will continue actively participating in international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and steadily advancing its operations and the development of its new mines.
By creating more local jobs and earnestly practicing the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, the company will continue to carry forward the traditional friendship between China and Zambia through concrete actions, thus promoting shared growth between CLM and the local communities and making greater contributions to Zambia's economic and social development.
